About the Role
Tarrar Utility Consultants is seeking an experienced AutoCAD Drafter to support our dry utility design projects. You’ll work closely with project managers to help carry projects from start to finish. Your day-to-day tasks will include preparing spreadsheets and documents, submitting applications to agencies, coordinating with utility companies, and helping with the design and drafting of project plan sets. You’ll also be responsible for following our firm’s drafting standards, preparing equipment schedules, and supporting all phases of the design process.
This role requires someone who is self-driven, detail-oriented, and able to work well both independently and as part of a team. The ideal candidate will be comfortable operating standard office equipment (plotters, printers, scanners, faxes) and converting files across platforms (AutoCAD to Word, Excel, JPEG, and PDF). Professionalism in client and vendor interactions is a must.
Responsibilities:
Draft and design dry utility plans using AutoCAD
Assist project managers in preparing spreadsheets, documents, and applications
Coordinate with utility companies during the design process
Implement firm drafting standards across all project work
Prepare and maintain equipment schedules
Manage file conversions between AutoCAD and other formats (Word, Excel, PDF, JPEG)
Operate office equipment such as plotters, printers, and scanners
Support all phases of the design process and project execution
Represent the firm professionally in client and vendor interactions
Requirements
5+ years of experience using AutoCAD in the civil and/or electrical field
5+ years of experience with Excel, Word, and Outlook Express preferred
Strong attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines
Ability to work independently and in a team setting
Proficient with file management and platform conversions
Professional communication skills and strong organizational habits
